Working Faith’s purpose is to offer husbands and wives hope and a trustworthy pathway toward an ongoing, healthy, and vibrant marriage.
A staggering truth about marriage is that so many well-intended couples give up on their marriage and get divorced before seeking mentoring support and God’s help. This fact applies across the board to all couples, whether or not they married within a faith tradition.
When couples marry in their faith tradition, they link their marriage with God and their faith community. Why are these marriages failing? In particular, why are married Christian couples not experiencing the fulfillment and satisfaction that God has for them in Christ Jesus?
Hope For Marriage is a ministry to husbands and wives struggling to restore or maintain their marriage relationship. Our primary emphasis is on renewing the marriage through each spouse's authentic, personal relationship with God and then with one another. Marriages easily fracture when God is absent or sidelined. Why? This is because our natural, self-centered desires often work against what we really need from God and from one another.
Hope For Marriage requires effort from both the husband and the wife. Both spouses will meet weekly with an Encourager Couple for 12 to 14 weeks. Each meeting is interactive. Hope for Marriage involves a commitment of time and energy from both spouses, respect for the guidance of their Encourager Couple, and following closely the specific instructions of the weekly lesson material.
The mentoring ministry of the Encourager Couple is what makes Hope for Marriage unique. For a minimum of 12 to 14 weeks, you, as a Hope Couple, have an opportunity to be cared for—to walk with a married couple who has successfully navigated many issues like your own. Because Encourager Couples have learned to trust and obey God through many difficulties, they are able to understand and guide each of you in the restoration and strengthening of your marriage.
An Encourager Couple will have the following expectations of you as their Hope Couple:
• To ask God to show you what changes He wants to make in you (not your spouse).
• To review the material from each weekly lesson before your next meeting.
• To honestly answer the questions that are part of the weekly lesson material.
• To ask God for insight through His Holy Spirit as you answer the weekly questions.
• To set aside 1 hour each week for a private (staff) meeting with your spouse, to share what God is revealing to you about yourself and your marriage.
Hope For Marriage is based on the Word of God. It is not about techniques or do’s and don'ts. Hope allows you to put the truth and power of God's Word into your marital behavior.
Based on Scripture, Hope for Marriage covers the following topics:
Lesson 1 THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN YOUR MARRIAGE
A coordinator couple approved by your worshipping congregation will meet with you (husband and wife) for about 1½ hours to gain insight into your background and current relationship, helping each of you also gain understanding about the Hope for Marriage commitment and 12-14 week process. If the coordinator couple determines that Hope for Marriage is suitable for you, each of you will take the Prepare-Enrich online marriage assessment to provide your Encourager Couple with information to walk you and your spouse successfully through the Hope process. Assessment results will remain internally confidential. Assessment reports are not returned to the Hope Couple.
If Hope for Marriage is of interest to you and your spouse, it would be our privilege to connect with you about the Hope process for your marriage.
